Imagine a tribute/love letter to the days of coin operated arcade games made as a metroidvania-style game. With arcade boards as power-ups, and images and noises from vintage machines, this one will pull at your heartstrings… if you’re old enough.

Me? I’m old enough. Waaaay old enough. So even the opening shot of this trailer, with the machines in the junkyard, in the rain — even that got me. Revived by lightning, a generic cabinet named Gen has the ability to take on any kind of card or videogame. Brilliant stuff.

But there’s a problem connected to that brilliant idea: copyright issues keep this game from being anything but a free release. So, if you want Coin-Op Story to see release and thrive, consider donating.

I think that if you spend some time with the demo, you’ll be willing to drop some quarters in. I played it this morning, and I can tell you that it’s full of feels. And the music! It’s super early now, but you can already see how good it’s going to be.
