Capcom is playing a weird game when it comes to Switch re-releases. Everyone was rightfully up in arms when Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4arrived with a whopping $30 price tag for each: the same amount you can basically buy all three entries for on every other platform. To add insult to injury there’s no physical media “Switch tax” as they arrived in digital-only format. But they might be pivoting based on a Japanese eShop listing for the Devil May Cryre-release.

The official Devil May Cry Switch page is up on the Japanese eShop and we can glean a few bits of information from it. It’s 9.2GB, it’s arriving on June 27 in that region, and it’s priced at1,990 yen, which is roughly $20 US.For reference, the Resident Evil Remaster Japan listings are 3,300 yen (about $30).That could be a hint of the aforementioned pivot going forward, but who knows if Capcom is just testing the waters. Resident Evil 5 and 6are coming this fall on Switch and the publisher has not revealed pricing details. $20 is still too damn high when the entire HD Collection, in physical form, can be purchased for the same price elsewhere.

Yep: in another odd move Capcom is not releasing the existing Devil May CryHD Collection(trilogy), which you can pick up for less than the cost of that one Switch release on some platforms. They’re still tight-lipped about whether or not Devil May Cry 2or 3will be gracing the Switch at all in fact: wouldn’t it be hilarious if they skipped 2? It’s amazing that they still acknowledge it officially and keep it part of the timeline instead of retconning it.
