Rainbow Six Quarantine affected too

Ubisoft shared its second quarter financials today and informed investors that it’s delaying one of the biggest upcoming games in the publisher’s portfolio. Far Cry 6will no longer launch on February 18, 2021.

Far Cry 6, along with Rainbow Six Quarantine, is being moved back to a nebulous window that encompasses the rest of 2021 and some of 2022. The February 18 date would’ve contributed to Ubisoft’s 2020-21 fiscal year, but now both games have been delayed into the 2021-22 fiscal year.

The reason for the setbacks is the same one we’ve heard throughout most of this calendar year: “the impact of the COVID-19 crisis” and “production challenges related to work from home.” Ubisoft, big as it may be, is just as vulnerable to the same workflow bottlenecks as everyone else.

There’s no solid indication of when Far Cry 6will launch. That almost certainly means this is a significant delay. If it were a slight postponement, Ubisoft would’ve more than likely had a new date ready to go. You can always just delay again. (See: Cyberpunk 2077.) As is, we probably shouldn’t expect Far Cry 6anytime before Fall 2021, although Spring 2022 is quite possibly the most realistic target.
