We’ll see the new game on June 15

Black Tusk Studios has taken over development on the Gears of War franchise now that Microsoft owns the property. Previously, the studio was working on its own IP, which we caught a glimpse of during E3 2013. Sounds like we won’t be seeing that project again for quite a while, if ever. In a nod to Gears lore, the Vancouver-based team will be known as The Coalition going forward.

“When people hear 343 Industries, they associate it with Halo; when they hear Turn 10 Studios, they know that’s who makes Forza. Moving forward, when you hear The Coalition, we want you to think ofGears of War,” said studio head Rod Fergusson.

E3 is, crap, less than two weeks out. Fergusson added that Gears fans will want to watch Xbox Daily: Live @ E3 on Monday, June 15 at 4:00pm Pacific “to see what we’re working on.” Microsoft’s press conference is earlier in the day, at 9:30am Pacific, so maybe catch that too.
