Palpatine’s influence persists even in death

Now this is what I was missing from DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront.

The sequel will have an honest-to-goodness campaign that falls between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, hence that double-take-inducing image. Here’s an early scene:

“Messengers are foreboding droids,” explains a PlayStation Blog post. “They bear the visage of the dead Palpatine, and some are equipped to enforce his will not just with words, but with violent action.”

“Early in Star Wars Battlefront II, a Messenger tasks Iden and her father, Garrick Versio, with terrifying instructions. We don’t want to reveal much more about this critical sequence, but it’s pretty clear that Iden’s ‘unusual’ mission will place her on a collision course with the last wishes of the fallen Emperor.”

DICE has previously described Iden and Inferno Squad’s journey as “a story of revenge, betrayal, and redemption that spans 30 years.” I’m sufficiently curious. Now, if we could just see more gameplay…
