‘Gardners of the Galaxy?’

Square Enix kicked off their presentation with the next game from Eidos Montreal: Guardians of the Galaxy.

I am Groot? No, you’re a video game, dude!

The whole gang is here, and Square Enix is using the off-brand MCU look again, with a different studio no less. The voices for a few characters seem a little off, in part because the MCU ones are so character-defining.

Oh and Cosmo is in! So they’re going off-MCU book here to some extent. Plus, “haunting repercussions” of story choice was a marketing term thrown out, which I need to see to believe. This looks like Mass Effect by way of Marvel. Star Lord’s tape deck is in, and “Bad Reputation” was shown off, on top of “Holding Out for a Hero” in the debut trailer. It’s an interesting combo.

It’s out on October 26 for PC,PS4/PS5, and Xbox One/Series X/S. Here’s some pre-order info:

To be clear this is not an Avengers expansion. It’s a fully new game from a new studio. And it’s single-player, and you’ll control Star Lord as a Commander Shepard of sorts, controlling your team.
