Gonna get another sale from me soon

The Sony PlayStation 4 console, even this late in its lifespan, is continuing to pull in the punters, with recent numbers showing that the black box has shipped 100 million units to date as of June 30, 2019.

Some 3.2 million more consoles were shipped within the first quarter of this fiscal year, according to Sony’s recent financial reports, which is not too shabby for a six year old console, especially when a new generation is clearly poking its head over the horizon. This total makes the PS4 that fastest-ever console to reach the 100 million mark, hitting the milestone in a slightly shorter amount of time than the PlayStation 2 or even the Nintendo Wii.

Whilst on the numbers, there are currently around 36.2 million PlayStation Plus subscribers, which is up 2.3 million from the same period last year. In terms of software, Sony has sold 42.9 million units in this first quarter, with a 10% increase in digital downloads, pushing digital sales over the 50% mark.

Having been a consistent success since it first took the world by storm in 1995, it appears that the PlayStation brand, some two decades later, continues its legacy as a strong money-making brand, which is no doubt happy news to a company about to embark on a whole new generation of gaming.
