Clairely this is rather popular

Here’s a statistic that isn’t terrifying or ghastly or alarming or dreadful: Capcom has shipped three million copies of Resident Evil 2in the four(ish) days it has been for sale. That’s downright jubilant — an emotion that’s not often associated with Resident Evil.

Capcom announced the impressive figure in a press release today. The three million mark includes both physical units sent to retailers and digital sales. There’s an important distinction to be made in noting this doesn’t equate to three million net sales. But, it’s probably safe to guess it’s somewhere in that ballpark.

The original Resident Evil 2wound up selling just shy of five million copies. It appears that the 2019 version is well on its way to surpassing that number — undoubtedly helped along by modern conveniences such as the prevalence of digital distribution. Capcom will likely divulge actual sales data in late April or early May when it gives its financial presentation for the fiscal year that ends in March 2019.

The latest entry helps grow Resident Evil‘s lifetime franchise sales beyond 88 million units. Capcom has served up a lot of scares over the past 23 years.
