YouTube to finally support videos running at 60 frames per second

At VidCon 2014, YouTube previewed a number of upcoming features and at long last, videos running at 60 frames per second are on the way. 48fps videos are also planned, and while this support will roll out “in the coming months,” there are a few demonstrations to watch here.

In recent months especially, I’ve seen quite a few of the higher-quality channels with strong-but-not-monstrous followings turn to Patreon for funding outside of the ad-revenue model. To meet those needs, YouTube also plans to add a tip-jar feature, allowing fans to “contribute money to support [their] favorite channel at any time, for any reason.” Much-needed updates.
