New stage inbound as well

Square Enix has announced that Yuna, in her appearance from Final Fantasy X, will be joining the roster of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The veteran summoner will be joining the arcade version this month, and will then join the PlayStation 4 version for DLC owners in December.

In addition to her announcement, the company announced that the new ‘Final Battlefield’ stage will be added for free when Yuna joins. A free version, called Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition, will be out this month for Japan.

You can check out trailers and more details for all the announcements below.

With Yuna’s arrival, that is the fifth character of the promised six from the season pass, with Kam’lanaut from XI releasing last month as the fourth. While her alternate costume was revealed on the franchise’s Twitter page, the company also updated the season pass image to remind everyone that the last character won’t arrive until February. Whether or not a second season pass will happen after is unknown.

A free version of the game is a smart move. Much like the free version of Dead or Alive 5, it allows players to get a feel for the game without having to commit to buying the full thing. However, that version leaked via a magazine article earlier this week. As the folks as Gematsu reported, it will feature a limited, rotating roster and focus on battles. Story mode will not be available, game mode selections will be limited, and progress will carry over to the actual game if you choose to upgrade. Characters can be bought individually, just like in the free version available for Dead or Alive 5. There is no indication that it will leave Japan, as it was absent from the international announcement for Yuna and the new stage.

It should be noted that at this time, the Amazon listing for the game in the USA has it at a third of its usual price. How low do you really need the price to be to take the risk in the first place?
