Nicalis’ 1001 Spikes is a game I’m excited about but have somehow completely missed the chance to talk about. It’s a particularly brutal action-platformer that also doubles as an outstanding Mario Bros. style party game. There’s like… a billion stages (probably closer to 100), a dozen and a half playable characters (with plenty of cameos), chiptunes galore, deaths galore, plus co-op and versus modes.
1001 Spikes is coming to PS4, Vita, and Steam on June 3, priced at $14.99. There’s Cross-Buy support, so you’re getting both PlayStation versions for one price. And if you’re a Steam type person, there’s a $5 loyalty discount for those that purchased Cave Story or Night Sky.
