There are savings, but it’ll cost you

It’s far from the most affordable deal this year, but it serves a certain niche. Anyone who’s looking to both buy a new PC andget into virtual reality might want to pay attention to this one.

Amazon is selling an Oculus Rift and a VR-ready PC for $1,000. It caters to a very specific need, yes, but it’s also a pretty dang good deal. The Rift retails for $600, and there haven’t been any high-profile sales announced like the Vive’s $100 discount. That means you’re getting a PC that’s capable of running VR for $400, and that ain’t shabby.

As for the rig, it’s not top of the line but it’ll get the job done. It’s a CyberPower PC with an Intel i5-6402P 2.8GHz quad-core processor, an AMD Radeon RX 480 video card with 4GB of VRAM, 8GB DDR4, and a 1TB hard drive. That bundle regularly retails for $1,320, so it’s a savings of more than $300.

That’s not the only option, though (but it’s the only one to come in at the $1,000 mark). Amazon has other bundles at this node. They might not be as cheap, but they might better suit your lifestyle — that is if your lifestyle is “Doesn’t yet have a beefy PC or virtual reality but wants to get in on that right now.”
