An all too brief trailer for Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

It still exists!

The Chinese Room and Sony Santa Monica let out a quick trailer for their PlayStation 4 title Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and, oh, it’s over already? Okay. But there’s more to go on.

It’s June 1984 and, unfortunately, the world is coming to a close. This is an open-ended game with a story that’s said to allow freedom of exploration “whilst making sure every player has a strong dramatic experience,” according to co-director Jessica Curry.

“There’s a very particular English feel that we wanted to capture in the game, a combination of the epic and the intimate. Rapture also came from our obsession with post-apocalyptic gaming, and the simple idea that whilst we normally play as the hero, in reality, most of us would be the piles of ash and bone littering the game world. That’s an interesting place to start telling a story.”

Had I not already been invested in Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, I don’t know that this trailer would have been enough to spark an interest — it’s just a tease. But that description sounds nice. Follow the link below for screenshots and a sample from the game’s soundtrack.
