Use touch, sound, and smell to make up for lost sight

I could not imagine what my life would be like without a sense of sight. I wouldn’t be able to do my job or partake in my favorite hobbies any more. It’s terrifying, and the idea behind Beyond Eyes is terrifying, despite the whitewashed background and pastel environments. In the planned title, the player controls Rae, who lost her vision earlier in life, and must use her senses of touch, hearing, and smell in order to navigate the environment.

It looks similar to The Unfinished Swan in theory: on a completely white backdrop, the player paints the environment in order to discover it. The interesting twist that Beyond Eyes adds is that Rae is meant to be more than just an avatar for the player. Over the course of the game, she will grow to trust or distrust the player, depending on how well the player protects her from danger, and she may disobey commands if she doesn’t trust the player’s judgment.

Beyond Eyes is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, with a campaign goal of€10,000 (or a little over $13,500).
