Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 digital sales rocket, physical sales plummet in UK Charts

Still didn’t stop it hitting number one though

This isn’t going to come as a surprise to anybody, but Activision’s multiplayer military shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is number one with a bullet, having debuted straight into the premier spot of the UK Charts this week. Particularly of note, (and in keeping with many major releases this Fall) Black Ops 4 physical sales have plummeted by a staggering 50% on last year’s Call of Duty: WWII, whilst digital sales have absolutely sky-rocketed, resulting in the biggest digital launch in Activision history.

2K Games latest ring-rocker WWE 2K19 also had a strong opening, landing in the Top Five. Though still severely flawed, this year’s entry to the WWE roster is a definite improvement on previous years. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and FIFA 19 are still shifting plenty of copies, enough to remain in the Top Five.

Elsewhere in the charts, Nintendo Switch re-release The World Ends With You: Final Remix arrived at number 22, while a surprising re-entry was made by Electronic Arts’ UFC 3 at number 27, no doubt ignited by the carnage that took place at the previous weekend’s UFC 229 pay-per-view.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will definitely continue to enjoy its time at the top for the next couple of weeks, and I’d usually be want to say it will remain there for the holiday season. However, the old church bell strikes noon, and come October 26, there’s a new gun in town.
