But that could eventually change

It’s a notable week for comic book video games. Just as we’re getting ready to cozy up to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, there’s news out of Comic-Con about another upcoming Nintendo Switch title: DC Universe Online. After months of buildup, the free-to-play MMO has committed to an August 6 launch.

If you’re curious to see how much storage space it’ll command on Switch, I’m right there with you.

The Switch version of DC Universe Online touts “over 300 DC characters across over 30 content episodes and over 100 free game updates,” which makes sense considering the MMO has been in operation for eight years now. I distinctly remember bouncing off the PS3 version back in the day.

If you’re a longtime player looking to download the Switch port, keep in mind that you’ll need to come in fresh this version of the game uses Nintendo Accounts, so you can’t transfer an existing DCUO character, and it also runs on “a brand-new, fresh server, separate from all other communities.”

For its part, Daybreak says it’ll explore possible cross-play options “in the future.”
