It looks legit

Diablo on mobile is going to be a dangerous prospect for some of us. Blizzard closed out its BlizzCon conference with Diablo Immortal, an action-RPG for iOS and Android that promises “authentic Diablo gameplay at your fingertips.” It’s set between the last two games with “20 years of untold stories.”

Familiar character classes like the Barbarian, Necromancer, Demon Hunter, Wizard, Crusader, and my boy the Monk return for loot-earning heroics. You’ll be able to visit Westmarch and team up with friends or strangers in dynamic events and instanced dungeons. On its site, Blizzard says Diablo Immortal will let players explore Sanctuary “in a persistent, always-online adventure anywhere, anytime.”

The game will launch with nine outdoor zones. (Here’s a peek at the map.) Classes will have 12 skills or more, with the ability for you to assign any five of them at one time to an “active skill button.”

You can pre-register for Diablo Immortal, and by signing up, you’ll have a chance of gaining beta access and earning exclusive rewards. As for the release date, we’re in “coming soon” territory.

We’re going to get another full Diablo sequel at some point, but in the meantime, I’ll enjoy this.
