EA is taking jabs at Call of Duty through Titanfall's Twitter account

Duck and cover!

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare isn’t even a day old and the shots are already being fired. The official Titanfall Twitter sent out a snarky tweet in the direction of Activision’s shooter by quoting IGN’s review-in-progress for IW. I feel the language backfires on EA, but I’ll let you decide.

One is “mostly slow & plodding” while the other’s “frantic precision is electrifying”– you decide: https://t.co/QkynZOXgpn #MakeTheRightCall pic.twitter.com/aAHWbrZQ2y

I understand this is supposed to be in “good fun,” but I’m always turned off by big studios pretending to appeal to their audience. EA clearly has its eye set on toppling Call of Duty instead of trying to create a game that can compete alongside the juggernaut of gaming.

Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind Titanfall, noted on Twitter that its official voice is from @Respawn and no one else.

For the record: @respawn is the official voice of Respawn studio. We have nothing but respect & love for our fellow devs.

What makes this really sad is that Titanfall 2 has, apparently, one of the best single-player shooter campaigns in recent memory. A lot of praise is being thrown around from people who are generally turned off by modern games, but that shouldn’t be surprising. Respawn Entertainment did help define the first-person shooter nine years ago with Call of Duty 4.

EA also has Battlefield 1 to tackle Call of Duty, so the need to even throw around petty jabs is unfounded. Just let people use their own minds and wallets to judge which game is better. You could also try releasing a game in a less crowded time of year.
