Tilted Town ain’t big enough for the both of us

Epic Games has released Version 10.0.0 for its globally successful money-maker, Fortnite. The new update, the first since the game began its latest season, sees the battle royale title thrown into the past, letting players battle it out in the old west, which seems to be a go-to when games wanna shake things up a little.

Season X is mostly based around the wilds of time and space, y’see? And as such we can probably expect a lot of updates that will mess with the settings and landscapes of the online shooter in the near-future. Right now, Neo Tilted has been refashioned as “Tilted Town,” a rickety, wooden gunslinger’s paradise, complete with saloon, old-school clock towers and covered wagons filled with hay bales. Player avatar are also getting into the spirit, kitted out with old west clothes, and the Fortnite arsenal reduced to a selection of old-school weaponry, such as six-shooters and rifles. Good luck, ya sidewinder.

Also arriving in Fortnite is a new mode, Arsenal, which is similar in concept to Call of Duty‘s “Gun Game” mode. All players will begin with a high value weapon, which will switch out to a lower grade weapon with each kill, the winner being the first person to score a point with the last weapon in the queue.

Creative Mode, in the meantime, gets yet another set of pre-fab items for all your town building needs, along with Limited Time Mode Sky Station Showdown. For Save the World fans, there’s a new weekly quest “The New Song of Summer,” and the classic Typewriter Tommy Gun is being pulled back out of the vault.

As for where Season X will take the Fortnite community next, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Until then, get out there are show ’em there’s a new gun in town. Fortnite is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android devices.
