Game with the Dtoid Community!
I got to play Battlefront at my brothers… It is not the best… It may not even hold a candle to the old ones (2 ftw!). Holy fuck though. The sound, the feel and the looks? Damn. I might have to take this brain-dead, hunk of hotness out for a few dates. By might, I mean definitely. The beta didn’t really sell me on it, but the full version and a few matches sure did. Admittedly, I’m a pretty big Star Wars lover and an easy target as I love mp.
Speaking of multiplayer and this place, I was recently asked why I thought FNF had died down. Not an easy question to answer honestly. A lot of variables go into such a thing. My best guess is a mix of folks growing up, certain hosts moving on from the site, and the new consoles/Steam upgrades themselves. Now days it doesn’t feel like we all have to meet up at a specific place to organize stuff. Friends lists, community hubs, forums and such are all built into platforms (and some cases the games) themselves. It’s easier than ever to find people to play with and add them to your roster of buddies. Add to that the fact most of us have kids now, work, and other responsibilities and I think it’s rather easy to see why the tumbleweeds blow through here a lot. I don’t think we are interacting less with each other though. I interact with Dtoiders past and present every day through Steam/Xbox Live/PSN/Skype, and I’m sure many of you do as well. If not, then get off your rump and join us. It’s a blast and there is no reason to restrict it just to Friday’s anymore.
Which brings me to the reminder that the FNF Blog is not just for Friday. All week you can sign up and try to gather some friends to play with. Don’t get discouraged if no one answers right away, it happens. Maybe the days don’t line up, whatever. Maybe leave an open invitation, dick pic or some other lure. Either way, let’s play together.
New to FNF? Read this!Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It’s a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!
The planning for FNF used to start in the forums, where community members signed up to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Now, every Monday, posts go up in thecommunity blogs where you sign up and it’s all kept up thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers. I then recap it all here on Friday, on the front page to give it a bit more exposure.
To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! If you’d rather host something yourself, sound off in the comments section below!
