The fog is thicker than ever

Konami has put the kibosh on a recent run of rumours pertaining to Silent Hill. These stories ranged from whispers that Sony was trying to purchase the survival horror franchise, to the suggestion of a reboot, to news that Konami was still working on the cancelled Silent Hills project. It seems, however, that there is little substance to all of the above.

In a statement to Rely on Horror, a Konami spokesperson said: “We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear… It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.”

Rely on Horror has stated that it pushed for clarification on the specific rumours listed above, but received no further information. It has been eight years since the last Silent Hill release – not counting 2014’s creepfest P.T., of course – but Silent Hill remains a franchise at the forefront of minds and on the tips of tongues, it seems very unlikely that it will be put to rest anytime soon.
