Man! I just had a conversation with someone about my Game Boy collection, and this happens.
Nintendo announced this morning that Metroid: Samus Returnswill be getting its own special edition portable, which will arrive on September 15 at “select retailers.” It sports a nice red and yellow look, under the New 3DS XL banner.
Will you be able to buy it though? Only time will tell! These things usually sell out instantly and go for $300+ on eBay. Good luck!
