How many weapons does one Hunter need?

If there’s one thing to be said for Capcom’s upcoming Switch release Monster Hunter Rise, it’s certainly not sending you into battle without a decent loadout. Following on from previous videos looking at the Hammer, the Lance, the Dual-Blade, and the Bowgun, the publisher has dropped two more trailers focusing on further weapons in the Hunter’s arsenal, namely the Gunlance and the Insect Glaive.

Combining the best of both mid and long-range capabilities, the Gunlance is a deliberate but powerful weapon, capable of letting loose with explosive firepower, while doubling up as a heavy-hitting melee tool. While not the most agile of weapons on offer, the Gunlance allows hunters to pick at their prey from a distance, before moving in for the kill when the tide of the battle swings their way.

The Insect Glaive – much like the Dual-Blade – is a weapon designed for those who like a little flash in their fracas. This razor-sharp and intricately designed weapon allows for acrobatic and visually satisfying combos, with the smart hunter able to maneuver themselves with grace and fluidity to deliver attacks from seemingly all angles. If looking radical is top of your monster-hunting priorities, then the Insect Glaive is most certainly for you.

Monster Hunter Rise will launch on Nintendo Switch March 26.
