Corruption 2029

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Edencaptured hearts and minds in 2018 with the way it blended smart tactical shooting, real-time stealth/ambush mechanics, and a cast of gruff wise-cracking animals. It was XCOMby way of Animal Farm, minus the communism allegories and plus a lot of end-of-the-world vibes.

Developer Bearded Ladies has ambushed us with a stealth launch of its newest game. Corruption 2029is another tactical strategy game, seemingly in the same vein as Mutant Year Zero. This one has more of a sci-fi bent with an aesthetic that leans into Destiny-looking characters.

Here’s how Bearded Ladies describes it: “Taking place in the not-so-distant future, Corruption 2029will have players command a squad of heavily augmented soldiers on a deadly mission to infiltrate an inhuman regime and discover the cause of an ominous corruption that turned America into an war-torn wasteland.” Additionally, the developer says that violence isn’t always necessary, and some situations lend themselves best to alternate approaches.

Intriguing, and we don’t have to wait long to see if Corruption 2029makes good on it all. It’s launching in a mere week-and-a-half on February 17. It’s an Epic Games Store exclusive, and it’ll only run $20.
