Netflix has not been shy about touting The Witcher‘s immense popularity. According to a new report, The Witcheris on-pace to become the most-watched first season of a Netflix original show. To date, 76 million people have tuned in to see Henry Cavill play Geralt of Rivia.

Unsurprisingly, Netflix has already renewed The Witcherfor a second season. Less predictably, it’s also getting a spin-off of sorts. Netflix has just announced that it has greenlit an animated Witcherfilm.

The rumors are true, a new Witcher story is in the works! The anime film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will take us back to a new threat facing the Continent. Brought to you by the Witcher team @LHissrich and @BeauDeMayo, and Studio Mir the studio behind Legend of Korra.

Details are light but the project is called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolfand it is being handled by Studio Mir. The South Korean animation team created Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korraseries. Studio Mir has also previously worked with Netflix on three shows, includingVoltron: Legendary Defender.

As for Netflix, leaning into more video game animation projects — especially for properties that are already proven commodities — isn’t much of a surprise. Castlevaniahas been a hit thus far. Cupheadand Dragon’s Dogmaare already in the works. Geralt will eventually join the animated video game heroes that can only be found on Netflix.
