Nothing makes sense anymore

This news has come as a bit of a shock to most of us this morning so brace yourselves… Mario is no longer a plumber.

Nintendo’s Japanese site keeps an officialprofile on Mario which has been translated by Kotaku revealing the startling news. In said profile, Mario is described as:

“All around sporty, whether it’s tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing, [Mario] does everything cool. As a matter of fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago…”

This has left me with a lot of questions. For one, did Mario go back to college, or did this whole princess rescuing gig pick up full time? Then again, he’s bound to have picked up a few sports endorsementsin his time playing all that tennis and golf.

Shigeru Miyamoto himself pointed out what a strange career Mario has had. In his Donkey Kong days as Jumpman, he was a carpenter; it was only when Mario Bros. was released that he became a plumber. Since then he’s been everything from a doctor to presumably an astronautin Super Mario Galaxy.
