Peggle 2's Jimmy Lightning is less exciting than the first DLC

Not a fan of his redesign either

Peggle 2is one of those games that’s good to just pick up and play every so often, and whenever a new character drops, I get the itch to play again. This time the newcomer isn’t an original character like Windy the Fairy, but a familiar face in the form ofJimmy Lightning from the original Peggle. Of all the characters they bring back, it had to be Jimmy.

Like the Windy DLC pack he brings 10 new levels, 10 new trials, 30 objectives, three costumes, and new achievements. Whereas Windy’s DLC levels felt inherently different due to her original power, Jimmy’s levels feel like a rehash of the original Peggle. He also underwent a cosmetic overhaul, lives in an RV, and likes dubstep — which plays in a “wub wub” comedic fashion when you trigger his special multi-ball ability.

I don’t have anything inherently against dubstep (like every genre,it’s not all bad), but it feels out of place here, and Jimmy really doesn’t connect with the theme. The multi-ball power is also fairly dull, as it simply creates more balls when you hit a green peg. Because of this, most of his trials play themselves out, with little input or effort required from the player.

For $1.99, you could do a whole lot worse, and Peggle fanatics will likely want to pick him up anyway for the multiplayer variety. But if you’re just a casual fan waiting to see what DLC packs to pick up, stick with just Windy for now.
