That’s a lot of unknown players

Apparently PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds isn’t rocking a solid second place behind Epic Games’ Fortnite. Bredan Greene (PlayerUnknown himself) announced on Twitter that the game has just surpassed 20 million sales. He also took the chance to reassure players that the team at PUBG Corp is hard at work perfecting his vision for the ultimate Battle Royale game.

.@PUBATTLEGROUNDS reached an amazing milestone this weekend, passing 20 million copies sold!

I know a lot of you are frustrated by issues w/ the game but the team is working hard to deliver a truly great Battle Royale expierence for everyone. Bear with us, change is coming!

I have actually put some time into PUBG and I’m pretty surprised with it. The game isn’t always the most thrilling and the recent influx of cheaters has hurt it a bit, but I do love how tense every match can be. Just the idea of 100 people being around any corner makes you start double checking yourself and pretending to be some tactical genius out of a Hollywood film.

That said, if general levels of polish don’t get applied before release, then the negative feedback from fans might be enough to tank this game’s potential future. Hopefully everything works out well, because I haven’t had this much fun with a competitive game since Modern Warfare 2.
