Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia remake is taking some extra time. After providing a short development update, Ubisoft confirmed in its financial report today that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake would be aiming for the 2022 to 2023 window.

“We want to take a moment to reassure you that the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is still underway, motivated and inspired by your feedback,” read today’s statement. “We will update you on our progress in the future and want to thank all of you for your unwavering support and patience.”

Meanwhile, in today’s financial report, Ubisoft confirms that the remake is among several games that are targeting 2022-23. The other games are the guitar education tool Rocksmith+ and spin-off shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland. Also, while Ubisoft still expects Roller Champions to launch in the current fiscal year, it is no longer factoring the game into its guidance. Take that as you will?

The remake of the classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has drifted around for some time. At one point it was locked in for launch this past January, only for it to slip again.

Considering that the remake has garnered some mixed reactions, giving the team some extra time seems like a good thing. There are several Ubisoft games drifting around at this point though, including Beyond Good & Evil 2 and the tumultuous development of pirate sim Skull & Bones.

Hopefully, the extra time can help Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake get right back on track. Or at least avoid the weird void that Roller Champions now occupies.
