It’s launching through Xbox Game Preview

The long-awaited Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will debut on December 12, 2017, Microsoft Studios and PUBG Corp. have announced.

The wildly popular battle royale title will first be available as part of the Xbox Game Preview program, as expected, so this only marks the beginning. The PC version of PUBG is also still in its early-access phase, but the developers are targeting “late December” for the 1.0 launch. Bring on that desert map!

“Both versions are being developed at the same time, but they both have their own separate roadmaps,” said PUBG Corp. CEO Chang Han Kim. “Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible.”

Xbox players will be able to nab some exclusive cosmetic packs (the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack, and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack), but details aren’t finalized yet.

“These packs are exclusive to Xbox fans as standalone offers available for a limited time and as there are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version, are the only items that can be purchased during the preview period,” noted Kim. “We’ll be sharing more details on timing and pricing in the weeks ahead.”

I’m stoked for console players to finally get into this madness after hearing about it for so long.
