I’m not sure how I’d never seen this before. Maybe I did and figured it was promo for the early 2000s X-Men flicks. But Microsoft’s “Xbox” was once a very literal name.
Microsoft is going into the archives to celebrate the Xbox 15th anniversary by showing off the original Xbox prototype hardware. And it’s an…”x”…box. Look what we could’ve had instead of retreating into the invisible design of subsequent Xboxes. The Xbox One looks like the apes in 2001: A Space Odyssey knocked the giant pillar over and made me cram it in my entertainment center. It’s large, folks! And nowhere near a cool x-shape.
