Sonic Boom will be two games, a TV show, and a toy line

Following up on the huge reveal of the new Sonic Boomsub-franchise, Sega had two more announcements to make at their “Year of Sonic” event. The first deals with the previously revealed TV series, in that it will debut on Cartoon Network in the Fall, and run into 2015. It’ll consist of 52 episodes in an 11 minute format as standalone episodes.

Sega ran a few plotlines by us at the event — “Knuckles becoming mayor,” and “Dr. Eggman faking an injury to take Sonic to court” were two concepts. You can check out the show in action for yourself in the trailer above.

The other arm of the Sonic Boomline is the toy division, which will be headed up by TOMY. TOMY will be producing plush toys, action figures, RC cars, vehicles, and other novelty items. Sega also has multiple licensing programs planned, including food and beverage items. Sega calls this “one of the biggest licensing initiatives in recent years.”

So there you have it. Sega is going all out for Sonic Boom, so be prepared to see a lot of it over the next year or so.
