So, the Xbox One won an Emmy

For being a media center, not for games or anything

Microsoft winning an Emmy for the Xbox One has set me on a path to learning more about these awards than I’ve ever cared to. Forget about the Primetime Emmys (surprisingly easy, right?) — this goes deeper. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences also gives out awards for, among other things, “outstanding achievement in technical or engineering development.”

That’s where the Xbox One comes in. The console won as a “Television Enhancement Device” at the 66th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards for its “industry-leading television-on-demand and media center capabilities,” says Microsoft. I don’t use those enough.

Sony president and CEO Kazuo “Riiiidge Racer” Hirai was also honored during the ceremony. He took home a Lifetime Achievement Award in part for his “successful stewardship of Sony’s PlayStation business,” according to Engineering Achievement Committee co-chair Seth Haberman.

What does any of this have to do with that tasty dish? Well, you see, Kyle’s been bugging us to use food photos all day long to no avail, and I caved. You know what the Xbox One looks like.
