Sonic is king of the merch
As soon as it became evident that my daughter loved Sonic, I had zero trouble getting her merch for it. Everywhere I looked, even at random stores in the mall: they had it. I couldn’t escape it! I can vividly recall attending the event for the unveiling of the Sonic Boom sub-IP, and toys were a huge focus of Sega’s pitch. So it totally makes sense that Sonic Prime (the upcoming Netflix series) is planning ahead. Sonic Prime toys are coming in 2023, according to the publisher.
Frequent-Sonic-toy-collaborator Jakks Pacific is in, with a new Sonic Prime toys line that includes “action figures, playsets, vehicles, plush and other collectibles” based on the series. Naturally, costumes will play a part too, so Sonic and company can haunt your nightmares on Halloween.
As a recap, Sonic Prime is due out sometime in 2022 on Netflix, and other than all the info we can glean from these potential leaks, we don’t know much else, and we don’t have a full non-teaser trailer yet. That will change at some point, as Sega has been aggressively marketing Sonic in recent years, even starting their own “Direct”-like presentation series to announce new games and collaborations.
We also have Sonic Frontiers coming this year, so it’s going to be a blue 2022.
