Surprise, surprise

After finishing the season finale for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series, I had my suspicions that it was all setting up for an inevitable second season. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner confirmed that would be the case.

When we initially announced the series in 2013, we let everyone know this would be a multi-title, multiyear partnership with HBO. After this week’s finale, I’m pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale’sGame of Thronesseries, and that it’s currently in development.

It’s no surprise considering how big of a property Game of Thrones is and how much was left open at the end of The Ice Dragon. (I’m still bitter that Gared’s story was essentially pointless throughout Season One, but Bruner hints that it’s still building up for a revelation in the future.)

It’s sort of a shame that this second-tier Telltale series is getting more attention right away, where we haven’t heard anything yet about the future of the consistently excellent Tales from the Borderlands series. I know there are some The Wolf Among Us fans out there who are even more indignant, having waited even longer without any mention of more.

Bruner goes into more detail about the future of Game of Thrones in the Hollywood Reporter interview. Click through at your own peril; it’s rife with spoilers for Season One.
