Iron Man VR too

The inevitable has finally happened. Amid everyone working from home and workflows drastically changing, PlayStation and Naughty Dog have been forced to delay The Last of Us Part IIyet again.

PlayStation announced the setback in a simple tweet this afternoon. It reads “[Sony Interactive Entertainment] has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

The Last of Us Part IIwas meant to finally launch on May 29. It has been oft-delayed — first informally as Naughty Dog missed its 2019 target and pushed the game into 2020, and then formally as it was delayed from February until May. As PlayStation mentions, there’s no new release date to look forward to. Given how uncertain everything is right now, it’s pretty tough to predict timelines for completing projects.

However, there’s something of a silver lining. PlayStation also says it doesn’t have any further delays apart from The Last of Us Part IIand Marvel’s Iron Man VR.

[Update:Naughty Dog also released the following statement where the developer says: the game is nearly complete but it’s working on final bug fixes; the COVID-19 pandemic makes it logistically tough to launch the game near-simultaneously across the globe, and it wants to be able to do that; and that the studio hopes this delay won’t be long.]
