Includes portrait/super wide modes

Visually resplendent puzzle platformer The Gardens Between is heading to iOS devices soon. On May 16 (despite the trailer saying the 17th), players will be able to nab the title from the App Store for $4.99. It will contain full support for both the iPad and iPhone with features exclusive to your particular device. iPhone XS users, for instance, can swap between portrait and landscape modes (with ultrawide support) while iPad Pro users will be able to run the game at 60 FPS.

The new mobile port will also contain updated touchscreen controls, Bluetooth controller support, Taptic Engine support, and iCloud syncing for saving data across all devices.

A press release also touts that the soundtrack, composed by Tim Shiel, will be even more immersive thanks to better headphone support. Simon Joslin, co-founder of The Voxel Agents, said, “The player support for the story we’re telling will resonate with us forever. Their love for The Gardens Between made it possible to bring Arina and Frendt’s story to iOS, where a new audience can reflect on the timeless whimsy of childhood wonder.”

While I haven’t played the final version of this game, I had a great experience with it at PAX East 2018. While most people may scoff at mobile gaming, The Gardens Between seems like a perfect fit for the platform. That cheap price is also super compelling, so I may just end up grabbing it on my phone.
