In 2006, while the main studio was working on handheld titles, including the PSP’s Silent Hill: Origins, Climax Los Angeles was working on a pitch for a PS3-exclusive Silent Hill built in Unreal Engine 3. While Konami liked Climax enough to let it work on the first-ever Silent Hill game produced outside of Konami (Origins), the company didn’t like this pitch enough to give Climax the green light.

It was set in Coyote Flats, Arizona, a town being corrupted by the memories of Silent Hill past. The planned lead was Father Hector Santos, a priest from El Paso, Texas who is able to perform “holy rites and rituals,” and using blessed water to cleanse areas was an important element.

The video/pitch uses assets from Origins only to set the tone, but this wasn’t to be representative of the final game. After Konami passed on the game, the story was changed and the project renamed Broken Covenant. Climax intended to release it in an episodic format, but a lack of interest from publishers killed the project completely.
