You’re gonna have to plunk down some cash if you want an early hands-on with Mortal Kombat 11. NetherRealm is holding a closed beta soon, and the barrier to entry is a financial one.

Mortal Kombat‘s upcoming closed beta is restricted to people who have pre-ordered the game. This comes on the heels of the online stress test, which required people to sign up and be selected. The beta is less discerning, simply asking that you pre-pay for Mortal Kombat 11.

The closed beta is planned for March 28 through March 31, which is the weekend of PAX East. Series creator Ed Boon shared some new details over Twitter, including start times for each region:

MK11 online stress test is done. Thanks everyone…. Your feedback will absolutely help us make #MK11 better for when it launches next month!

Next up is the Closed Beta which begins March 28. You can find details here…https://t.co/U8hf9HUkAdpic.twitter.com/P2xEmBZOn1

This beta is closed in more ways than one. Of the four platforms, (PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One) only two will get the closed beta. PS4 and Xbox One — probably the two safest bets for Mortal Kombat 11‘s network performance — get the star treatment. We’ll have to wait to see how it runs on PC and Switch, maybe all the way until its April 23 release date.
