A cancelled Darth Maul game from a few years ago might still happen

Hoping to pitch it to EA soon

A few years ago, Red Fly Studios was tasked with making a Star Wars game known only as Battle of the Sith Lords. Featuring Darth Maul being an absolute badass, prototypes of it were made until eventually the game got cancelled, potentially due to the sale of the Star Wars IP to Disney.

Recently talking in a reddit AMA, Dan Borth of Red Fly Studio has confirmed they are working on reviving the project, with the goal of pitching it to EA once they have something to show for it. EA hasn’t given the project the greenlight, so for now it is still technically cancelled, but Red Fly say they’re not done with Maul yet:

“We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again. IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.”

The prototype footage of the original game (courtesy of Game Informer) looks really interesting. A more violent version of The Force Unleashed, starring a shirtless Darth Maul doing evil Sith things with lightsabers and shit.

Maybe if Battlefront does well, we’ll be seeing more of this in the months to come?
