That’s a helluva lot of lumber

The number-crunchers over at SuperData are reporting that the global craze that is Epic Games’ Fortnite has absolutely raked in the gold with its in-game purchases, with estimates popping the $1 billion dollar mark.

While Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is a Free-to-Play title, there is a constantly expanding abundance of items that can be purchased in-game to personalise your characters, gear and arsenal. Despite the relatively low cost of all of this junk, every penny counts, as such the island shooter has pulled in an insane amount of cash for its digital shopping mall.

Also of note, SuperData announced that the Battle Royale genre is the most popular video game genre in the world right now (of no surprise to anyone) with an estimated 700 million hours of related content watched online, only expected to grow throughout 2019. Huh, back in my day we went outside for fun.

Nah, that’s bollocks, we stayed inside playing video games. It was great.
