Later this summer, PC players will finally be able to get their mitts on the most recent entry in Taito’s legendary Bubble Bobble franchise, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, which was previously made available for PS4 and Switch. While it has been a long wait for retro heads, it seems that it will all be worth it, as the Steam port will include a brand new, exclusive level editor.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron’s Workshop will feature the original Bubble Bobble 4 Friends release in its entirety packed with all of the cute and colorful multiplayer action that is the franchise’s trademark. The PC edition will also work alongside Steam Workshop to allow players to design, edit, create, and finally upload their own challenging Bubble Bobble stages. Editors will have control over block, bonus, and enemy placement, as well as wind direction.
Hopefully, this feature will allow the Bubble Bobble community to really explore both 4 Friend‘s mechanics as well as their own creativity. The collaboration with Steam Workshop means that, essentially, endless new stages will be available to download over the coming months and years. If you ever dug the smart design and stage layout of Taito’s 1986 classic, then now you can try your own hand at building your own bubble-poppin’, ice-cream eatin’ universe. Oh, and if you fancy some old-school inspiration, then the original Bubble Bobble is also included as part of this release.
