The X91

As we’ve talked about at length before, Mega Man is having one hell of a comeback in 2018. In addition to the first game in years, not to mention the first non-retro styled classic Mega Man title in roughly two decades (Mega Man 8) in Mega Man 11, Capcom is also pushing the mascot in other forms of media with a new TV show and an elaborate set of pachislot machines with their own universe and Robot Masters.

We can add a controller on top of that pile, on the way from Hyperkin. It’s called the X91, and is self-described as the “coolest ’90s style controller.” It’ll work by default on Windows 10 PCs and Xbox One, and Hyperkin is basically trying their hardest to not actually say “it’s styled like an SNES remote.” The company calls its parts a”premium internal build,” and it’ll sport a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as analog triggers.

I dig it. The front is rather minimalist even with the Mega Man 11 character sticker on the front and it does indeed look comfortable. You’ll be able to snag it for $29.99 at GameStop.
