And some more essential stuff too

Doomdid what most people thought was impossible when it captured the essence of the 1993 game and adapted it to 2016 standards. It was an undertaking that seemed preordained to fall flat, but id Software did an incredible job making Doom relevant again. The game’s next update has a feature that adds a little more of the classic look to the new aesthetic.

On Bethesda’s site, the publisher lays bare everything that’s included in Doom‘s June 30 patch. One of the new features is an optional weapon placement that puts the gun (or chainsaw!) smack dab in the middle of the screen. That’s a nice touch that looks remarkably close to the original. Now get rid of the Y-axis.

Another notable feature is the inclusion of a photo mode. That’s sure to turn out some truly gruesome screenshots. The rest of the update focuses largely on fixes and optimizations. The full list is included below. Jordan’s just happy that the IDKFA Trophy is getting fixed so that he can gobble up that platinum.
