Japan Switch sales explode as Splatoon 2 bursts onto the scene

Female-led Layton game also debuts

As summer begins, it’s time for all the kids to stay in doors and shoot gunk all over virtual battlefields. Kids fortunate enough to have been able to obtain a Switch and Splatoon 2that is, as there continues to be more demand than Nintendo can supply.

Despite raffles, the launch was successful enough to cause the eShop to temporarily go down. Splatoon 2Nintendo Switch bundles likely make up a large portion of the 98,000 weekly console sales which is more than triple its weekly average of 23,000 – 30,000. Splatoon 2week helped push the Switch to over 4.7 lifetime sales.

Also new this week is the Lady Layton game (which I refuse to call anything else such as it’s long ass official name), Fate/Extella: The Umbal Starport for Nintendo Switch, Cars 3which I want to play for some reason, and the cute as heck Sumikko Gurashisequel.
