It’s Morphin’ Time

nWay Games, in partnership with Lionsgate and Hasbro, has announced the formation of a “pro-league” of sorts for tag-fighting title Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. The new league will offer BftG‘s best players the opportunity to fight it out at a selection of events across the coming months, culminating at a grand final to be held at EVO 2020 in August.

The season kicks off at Frosty Faustings this weekend, with the league stopping off at several other major fighting game events across North America. Sanctioned online tournaments and community events will also afford players the chance to climb the leaderboards in hopes of securing a coveted Top Eight spot. These players will then be invited to EVO 2020 to battle for the title of Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid League Champion.

The Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid League will be in attendance at the following events:

  • Frosty Faustings (January 17-18, Chicago)
  • Final Round (March 20-22, Atlanta)
  • NorCal Regionals (April 10-12, San Jose)
  • April Annihilation (April 10-12, New Jersey)
  • ComboBreaker (May 23-25, Chicago)
  • CEO Gaming (June 26-28, Orlando)
  • EVO 2020 (July 31 – August 1, Las Vegas)

For more information on rules and registration, visit the official Battle for the Grid League website. Expect details and dates for online tournaments and community events to follow soon. After a shaky start, Battle for the Grid has slowly morphed (pun intended) into a pretty good fighting game, and its great to see nWay commit to giving it a presence within the community.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
