But it’s not quite ready to play

Prepare to die again, this time in a possibly buggy fashion. From Software is conducting a network stress test for Dark Souls IIIon PlayStation 4 in the very near future. This amounts to an open-ish beta, and the barrier to entry isn’t too great as long as you’re living Stateside.

The Dark Souls IIInetwork stress test isavailable to download now, but it’s only open for PlayStation Plus members in the US. The aim is to let players have a go at part of the game ahead of the April 2016 release, while From Software collects data to refine the multiplayer portion.

Users are reporting that the application won’t actually let you enter the beta yet. The network test had a launch date of October 13, so this may just be an opportunity to preload the app. But, it may start working sometime ahead of October 13. Also, as this is US-only, it’s currently unknown if other regions will have their own event.
