These Joy-Con look nice enough but they're a hard sell

It’s still tough to justify spending $80

Nintendo has another batch of Joy-Con colors on the way. Starting October 4, Switch players can stand out in the crowd with two new controller sets: blue/neon yellow, and neon purple/neon orange.

I can’t lie: I’m digging that neon orange Joy-Con. It reminds me of the GameCube era, back when Nintendo was whipping up zesty styles like spice orange. But I’m less into the Switch’s mix-and-match philosophy. Ideally, I want both of my controllers to sport the exact same look. I’m still stuck on gray.

Not that it really matters, though. At this point, many of us aren’t in the mood to drop eighty bucks on neat-looking Joy-Con controllers that may or may not work exactly as intended. Concerns over joystick drifting haven’t diminished. And besides if I’m playing Switch for an extended period of time and I’m not out and about, I’m going with the Pro Controller all the way. It feels so much sturdier.

Years from now, I look forward to seeing a photo gallery that assembles every last Joy-Con color.
