Paging Mr. Ponce to the comment section

Since Super Mario Bros. first hit screens in 1993, filmmakers have been trying to bring the imaginative worlds from video games to the silver screen. Whether they’ve been successful at doing so or not depends on whom you ask. Even though many, like this summer’s Hitman: Agent 47, fail to really break out, studios aren’t giving up on the idea. Over the next few years we’ll see filmmakers attempt to turn Warcraft, Assassin’s Creed, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted and more hit games into viable film franchises. Now we can add one more beloved title to that list: Mega Man.

20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment announced they’ve begun development on a Mega Man feature film. The movie will be produced by Peter Chernin, who also produced the excellent films in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise. This project is completely separate from the Mega Man television series set to launch in 2017.

As of right now there is no word on a cast, director, or screenwriter. As it happens I have a half-completed Mega Man screenplay that producers can buy for, let’s say, $500,000. I’ll be waiting for your phone call Mr. Chernin.
