But it has ‘nicely outperformed’ since

Ubisoft has acknowledged thatAssassin’s Creed Syndicatesales have been “clearly impacted” by the performance issues of its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Unity.

In an investor call last night, Ubisoft executive Alain Martinez said: “Clearly, in our first week, we were impacted by what happened with Assassin’s Creed Unity.”

“We seem to experience the same sales curve as [Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag],” added Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot. “Versus Unity,Syndicatewas down in the first week but nicely outperformed it in its second week as it benefitted from positive word of mouth.”

Assassin’s Creed Syndicateholds the dubious honour of having the worst-performing opening week in the main Assassin’s Creed series. Eep.

In our review, we said that “agame of this magnitude is bound to have its successes and failures, andAssassin’s Creed Syndicatedefinitely has both. But, in most instances, gameplay and narrative are interwoven nicely enough to keep us vested in our pursuit of a better London”.
